Molasses Dog Cookies

Combine flour, wheat germ, salt and almonds. Using a pastry cutter or your fingertips, cut in margarine until mixture is crumbly. Stir in egg and molasses. Form dough into a ball, adding a few drops of water if needed. Roll dough out on a floured work surface to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375*F (190*C) for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire rack.
Cheesy Bone Cookies
Combine all ingredients to form a stiff dough. Turn out onto a floured work surface and knead for 3 to 5 minutes. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness and cut into bone or other desired shapes. Bake at 400*F (205*C) for 10 to 15 minutes or until bottoms of cookies are nicely browned. Cool completely on wire racks.
APPLE/CINNAMON Dog Cookies
1 1/2 cups unbleached flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/8 cup nonfat dry milk
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup smooth applesauce
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 to 3/4 cup water
(These are the instructions for making by hand, but if you mix in a bread maker,
follow maker instructions)
1. Stir together the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add the applesauce and
egg, and blend thoroughly. Then add the water gradually, stirring with a wooden
spoon. The dough should be very stiff; if not add a little more flour. Knead the
dough with your hands to create a smooth texture.
2. Roll the dough 1/4 inch thick. Use a cookie cutter to cut the cookies (or cut
in squares). Place the cookies about 1/2 inch apart on lightly greased cookie
sheets.
3. Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees for about 38 to 50 minutes. The cookies
should be lightly browned on the outside and should not be moist on the inside.
Turn the oven off and let cookies stay inside for five hours or overnight to let
them harden. Makes four dozen 3"x1" cookies.
BANANA/PEANUT BUTTER
Dog Cookies
Recipe same as above except omit cinnamon and applesauce and replace with 1/4
cup mashed ripe banana (about 1/2 banana) and 1/4 cup creamy peanut butter.
Water to be added is 3/4 to 1 cup.
GARLIC Dog Cookies
Recipe the same as above except omit cinnamon and applesauce - replace with 1/8
to 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder. Water measurement is 1 to 1 1/4 cups and can be
replaced with beef or chicken broth.
GARLIC AND CHEESE Dog
Cookies
1/4 cup cheddar cheese, grated
2 Tbs. safflower oil
1/2 cup Rice Krispies cereal
1/2 tsp. ground garlic
1/4 cup swiss cheese, grated
Combine cheeses, garlic and oil. Using plastic wrap, shape mixture into a log
about 1 inch in diameter and 8 inches long. Roll log in Rice Krispies.
Refrigerate. Slice into half-inch rounds and serve.

Doggie Cookies
2 6-once jars of beef-and-vegetable baby food
1 cup of wheat germ
2 cups of nonfat dry milk
Preheat your oven to 350Ÿ. Mix all ingredients in a large bowl with a fork. Drop
by small spoonfuls onto a greased pan. You can flatten slightly or you can cut
into fun shapes such as bones, paws, ect. Bake for 12-15 minutes until slightly
brown at the edges. Let cool. Store in fridge for up to one week. Give to your
pooch and let them enjoy!
Oatmeal Cookie Treats
2 cups rice 2 packages Reg. Flavor oatmeal (mixed w/milk)
1/4 cup molasses
1 cup carrots
1/3 cup spinach
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tbsp brown gravy mix
4 tbsp applesauce
1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 350degrees Stir Ingredients, but adding flour gradually. Drop on
cookie sheet using tsp. Bake 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Makes approx.
20 cookies. Enjoy!!!
Peanut Butter Waffers
Ingredients:
4 C. Wheat Flour
1/2 C. Cornmeal
1 Med. Egg
1 1/4 C. Chopped Nuts
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 to 1 1/2 C. Water
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine all ingredients and knead by hand. Roll
into 3/4 inch patty. Cut out wafers with a small round cutter. Or you can form
small balls and flatten by hand. Bake for approximately 45-50 minutes or until
brown on a baking sheet sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray. Cool on a wire
rack. Store in sealed container. For an extra treat, dip cookies in skim milk
and feed to dog. Yield: 24 wafers
DIPPING SAUCE
3 C. Unsweetened Carob Chips
4 Tbl. Vegetable Oil
In a double boiler melt carob chips and oil together until smooth. After dipping
waffer's garnish with chopped coconut or chopped pecans.
Doggie De-light Cookies
2 cups whole wheat flour
6 tbsp bacon fat or margarine
¼ cup wheat germ
1 egg (beaten)
½ cup powdered milk
1 tbsp molasses
¼ tsp garlic powder
about ½ cup water
Combine dry ingredients. Blend in fat or margarine. Add egg and molasses. Mix
thoroughly. Add enough water to form a dough ball. Roll out ¼ inch thick and cut
into dog bones. Placed on greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes at 375
degrees F. Makes between 30 - 40 cookies, depending on the size of the dog bone
cookie cutter.
Beefy Boy Cookies
2½ cups whole wheat flour
6 tbsp margarine or bacon fat
½ cup powdered milk
1 small jar strained beef baby food
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp water
1 egg
Mix ingredients. Knead 3 minutes. Dough should form a ball. Roll out ½ inch
thick. Cut into dog bones. Bake on lightly greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes
at 350 degrees F.
Chicken Liver Cookies
2 C. Flour
3 Tbl. Veg. Oil
1 C. Cornmeal
1 - Egg Beaten
1/2 C Chicken Broth
2 Tsp. Parsley
1 C. Chop Cooked Chicken Livers
1 Tsp. Brown Sugar
1 C Mashed Vegetables
Bake at 400
Combine flour and Cornmeal. In a separate bowl, beat Egg with Oil, then add
broth and Parsley; mix well. Add dry ingredients to bowl a little at a time,
stirring well. Fold in chicken livers and mix well. Dough will be firm. Turn
dough out on lightly floured surface and knead briefly. Roll out 1/2" thick and
cut into shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet 1" apart and bake for 15 minutes
or until firm. Store in refrigerator.
